and regulations
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:
-
To be selected, the movies must match the spirit and objectives of the
Festival as mentioned in Article N°1 of the regulations.
- If the movie isn’t originally in French or English, the print
will be:
either with French or English subtitles
or sent with a copy of the screenplay typed in French or English.
- Any print, DVD or tape, must be sent with the following comments on
it: “For cultural use only” and “No commercial value”.
If the sender chooses to use an international transport company to send
his material, he must pay all the transport fees himself, as well as
any custom duties.
- No DVD or videotape will be sent back after viewing. You can get them
back directly at the board of the association managing the Festival
. One DVD or tape copy of each selected movie will be kept for the archives
of the Festival.
- The Insurance of prints in transit from the country of origin to the
Festival and from the Festival to the country of origin will be
the responsibility of the entrant. The Festival Directorate
will insure the prints against damage, partial and total, by fire, theft
or any other unnatural causes from the moment it takes delivery
of the prints to the moment it hands them back to the concerned airline/agency
for despatch, in conformity with Addendum 1 of the FIAPF Regulations
for International Film Festivals. Damage to the print, if any,
should be certified by an independent agency, at the cost of the
sender.
-After the Festival, the prints will be returned to the senders at the
cost of the Festival .
Article n°1
The first International Festival of Pondicherry aims at showing
and enlightening fiction, animation or documentary movies whose artistic
qualities, impact and subject choices reveal a responsible and conscious
talent serving an enriching and positive visual communication.
Whatever the subject, it must be treated in an optimistic way; offering
a warm, happy and fulfilling view; to celebrate life and its beauty,
to enlighten goodness, joy, dignity or richness of a subject. The impressions
produced by the movie must be enthusiasm, peace, confidence or happiness.
Article n°2
Directors, producers, distributors or any other legal representative
can enter movies. The Board of Directors selects the movies that will
be shown during the Festival and draws up the calendar of the Festival.
Article n°3
An international jury, including a president and no less than 8
members, will bestow awards.
Article n°4
Scenes (3 minutes maximum) and pictures from the registered movies
can be freely used in the media (press, Internet or TV) by the Festival,
but only in order to promote the Festival.
Article n°5
With the objective of the Festival being the discovery and promotion
of movies as described in Article n°1, the jury will be in charge
of determining the individual merits or main theme of each movie so
that each entry might receive a unique award inspired by the movie itself.
Article n°6
The directors whose movie is selected will be invited to Pondicherry
so long as such an invitation is feasible and within the limits of the
budget.
Selected movies will be allowed to apply the “Selection 2007”
mention on their media as well as the name of the award.
Article n°7
The President , managing the Festival, has the power to rule on
any case that’s not covered in the regulations.
In case of disagreement concerning the understanding of the rules, it
is the French law which will govern.
Participation in the Festival implies abiding by these rules as well
as the agreement to the conditions of participation.
